Guidance for Abstract Submission


The scientific committee of the 2018 Biennial European Bobath Tutors Congress invites you to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations. There is no limit to the number of abstracts an individual may submit. Please note that the organizing committee may limit the number of oral presentations for one individual. All abstracts must be submitted in English. All presentations must be given in English.


All abstracts relating to children and adults with cerebral palsy through their life stages are welcome. This could include at risk children, early intervention, childhood, transition and lifespan Issues, parents’ and siblings’ experiences, and adult research. Abstracts will primarily be accepted which describe clinical research, but case histories if of a high standard, and research relating to education, i.e. about the Bobath concept will also be considered.


Oral presentation sessions: a group of talks within a theme by individual participants. Four presentations of 20 minutes each (including 5 minutes questions and answers) will be scheduled in succession.

Poster sessions: provide opportunity for presenting novel methods and findings and include discussion on-site. Posters will be sorted by theme. Each poster will be on display 2 full days of the conference and include two dedicated poster sessions.


Before you begin with the online abstract form please prepare the following information:

  • Only abstracts following the guidelines will be accepted.
  • The abstract body text is limited to a maximum of 250 words, excluding title and authors. Figures, tables are not allowed.
  • Abstract title (limited to a maximum of 200 characters including spaces). Do NOT use CAPITAL letters for the whole title, but if referring to something like a test. E.g. Quality FM – use capitals appropriately.
  • Contact details of the main author.
  • Details of author and all co-authors: family name, initial(s), institute, city, country. If more than one author, the main presenting author should be underlined.
  • Preferred presentation type (when entering your abstract data online, you will be asked to indicate one of the below preferences): – Oral – Poster
  • Structure for abstracts for oral and poster presentation: Structure your abstract with the following headings: Please use exactly these lay-outs as the format for your abstract(s)
    • Clinical research abstract: Introduction – Participants and methods – Results – Conclusion
    • Education research abstract: Introduction – Methods – Results – Conclusion.
    • Case history abstract: Introduction (include reasons for choice of patient, and what is new/different about this case); Patient (details of patient); Intervention; Outcome measures; Implications for practice.
  • Please use Times New Roman 11 font and avoid using other fonts for special characters.
  • Take care not to use I (cap i) or l (ell) for 1 (one), O (capital o) for 0 (zero) or ß (German esszett) for b (beta).
  • If references are essential, they should be within the text, in the form: (Murphy et al. BJU Int 2005; 95 27-30).
  • Please note the deadline of 25th MARCH 2018. Abstracts arriving after this date will not be accepted.

Abstracts should be submitted via the online submission form provided below. Mandatory fields are marked with a red asterisk (*).


The Scientific Committee will review the abstracts. The committee will contact authors by 30th April 2018 at the latest with formal acceptance or rejection notices, in order to allow presenters sufficient time to register for the conference and make travel arrangements. All notifications will be sent to the e-mail address provided during the abstract submission process. The number of submissions that can be accepted is limited. Instead of an oral presentation a poster may be advised.


All accepted presenters must register for the conference and will be eligible for the early bird registration rate. Presenters not registered by 15th May 2018 will not be included in the scientific program.


Selected abstracts (oral and poster sessions) will be published in the British Association of Bobath Trained Therapists Journal. All accepted abstracts will be published on the EBTA Congress website: EBTA2018.org.uk.
